As part of the project, agronomic field trials on the multi-purpose utilization of the jute plant were conducted with smallholder farmers in rural Bangladesh (Manikganj District). The objective was to develop sustainable cultivation and utilization concepts aimed at improving agricultural income opportunities and promoting rural development. The project was conducted in cooperation with the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC), operating under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and the local firm SERA Bangladesh. The project was successfully completed in 2023.
Implementation of the second phase of the pilot project “Organic Jute Cultivation” aimed at enabling smallholder farmers to integrate jute cultivation into organic crop rotation systems as part of rural development efforts in Bangladesh. As part of the project, farmer cooperatives were established to strengthen rural structures and facilitate market access. The project was conducted in close collaboration with the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC), the Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI), and the University of Mymensingh. The project was successfully completed in 2021.
